His Majesty grants audience to IPCC Chairman


March 12: His Majesty the King today granted an audience to Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri at the Lingkana palace.  Dr. Pachauri is the Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Director General of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).

IPCC was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 under his chairmanship. Dr. Pachauri's involvement with the IPCC began in 1991 when he was a lead author for the second assessment report, which laid much of the foundation for the Kyoto Protocol of 1997. Dr. Pachauri has also authored over 20 books.

TERI based in India does research and provide knowledge in the areas of energy, environment, forestry, biotechnology, and the conservation of natural resources to governments, institutions, and corporate organizations worldwide.


His Majesty grants audience to the Dzongdas

His Majesty the King also granted an audience to the Dzongdas of the 20 Dzongkhags.

The audience was granted in the afternoon at the Lingkana palace. The Dzongdas are in the capital to attend the 18th Annual Dzongda’s Conference.
