Man charred to death, four houses gutted

March 12: A 60-year-old man was charred to death and another injured in a fire accident in Autsho, Lhuentse in the early hours of today. The fire completely gutted four houses. It includes three double-storied traditional houses and a hut. The deceased was living in the hut.

The other living in one of the traditional houses who had come to help put off the fire was injured when the gas cylinder in his house blasted. He is being referred to the Monggar Regional Referral hospital.

Our reporter Sonam Choden says the fire started around 2:30 am. Fire fighters and local resident were able to control the fire after about five hours.

Eye witnesses said the fire started from the hut. Police are investigating the cause of the fire.

Autsho is about one and half hours drive from Monggar towards Lhuentse.

Meanwhile, upon command of His Majesty the King, The Gyalpoi Zimpon's office in Monggar immediately distributed relief items including ration, tents and clothing to the victims.

The family members of the deceased was also given NU. 15,000 as a Semso.
